Privacy policy

NoviForged is the studio name of NoviForged B.V., a private limited company (besloten vennootschap) registered in the Netherlands. NoviForged B.V. is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

You can reach us at any time at support@noviforged.com.

HOOKED keeps your progress in your browser or app storage on the device itself. This information is not sent to us and we cannot read it. It includes:

• Your best scores, daily streak, lifetime hooks and run statistics.
• Coins, boosters, chests and the cosmetic items you own or have equipped.
• Settings such as sound, music, haptics and the result emoji style.
• A random player id and, if you set one, your display name.
• Small flags that remember whether you have seen the tutorial or claimed a free gift.

Clearing your browser data, or uninstalling the app, deletes all of it permanently. There is no cloud backup, so we cannot restore it for you.

The leaderboard is optional. It only starts sending data once you enter a display name. When you finish a ranked run we send and store:

• The random player id generated on your device, which is not linked to you personally.
• The display name you typed.
• The day number, the game mode and your score for that run.

We keep only your best score per day and mode. We never receive your email address, your phone number, your contacts or your location. If you would rather not appear, do not set a name, or ask us to remove your entries using the player id shown in the game.

Legal basis: performance of a service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in preventing cheating and abuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Coin packs in the Android version are sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment and is the merchant of record. We never see your card number, bank details or billing address. We receive a confirmation that a purchase completed so the game can credit your coins.

Google processes that payment data as its own controller. See the Google Payments privacy notice for details of what Google collects.

The Android version can offer an optional rewarded video, for example to continue a run or to earn coins. These are served by Google AdMob and only play when you choose to watch one. There are no forced interstitials anywhere in the game.

To show and measure ads, Google may process your device advertising identifier, coarse device information and IP address. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent through Google’s consent form before any personalised advertising happens, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the settings screen in the game.

Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) where consent is required.

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no social or advertising scripts. Fonts and every other asset are served from our own host, so reading this site contacts no third party.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP address, request time and user agent, for a short period so the site can be delivered and protected against abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We use a small number of service providers and share only what each one needs:

• Our hosting provider, for serving this website and the game's leaderboard service.
• Google, for Play distribution, Play Billing payments and AdMob rewarded ads in the Android version.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising profiling beyond what is described above. Some of these providers operate outside the European Economic Area, in which case transfers rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

Leaderboard entries are kept while the game is operated, because a daily score table only means something if past days remain readable. We delete them sooner on request. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded. Data stored on your own device stays there until you delete it.

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct a display name or other detail that is wrong.
• Delete your leaderboard entries.
• Restrict or object to how we use your data.
• Withdraw consent for personalised advertising, at any time.

Write to support@noviforged.com and include the player id from the game so we can find the right entries. We answer within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the supervisory authority where you live.

HOOKED is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and the only field a player can type is a display name. If you believe a child has entered personal information as a display name, tell us and we will remove it.

When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will also say so inside the game before it takes effect.
